Why the Work Mattered

Purpose and Operating Need

Project scope and individual work packages are presented separately; project totals are not additive to their component values.

Engineering Approach

Engineering Approach

Engineered and implemented portions of the transition from shared IT infrastructure to a dedicated OT fiber backbone. Designed redundant star topology using distribution switches distribution and managed access switches access switches, VLAN segmentation and dual SFP failover; specified and oversaw field-enclosure installation. Programmed switches, performed IP migration and validated lab/live transitions with IT. Specified and installed 13 UPS units and coordinated the 10 Gbps backbone, electrical feeds, fiber pulls, panel power-up and enclosure placement. Installation readiness reached 80 percent before final equipment receipt, with further commissioning planned.

Outcome & Engineering Context

Outcome and Context

The workstream includes defined OT installation, configuration and cutover work with remaining commissioning, plus tank-measurement standardization and project-specific field work.

Workstream Results & Impact

Improved process security, latency and network convergence by moving engineering controls onto an isolated OT fiber backbone.

Designed and executed a redundant star topology with managed distribution and access switching, VLAN segmentation and dual-SFP failover.

Maintained OT communications during site-wide power sags through 13 UPS installations at aggregation switches and industrial distribution points.

Eliminated the 1 Gbps bottleneck between operating areas with a 10 Gbps fiber-backbone upgrade.

Coordinated network locations with bottling and palletizing layouts to avoid stranded infrastructure. Standardized tank measurement, instrument selection and procurement while accounting for field access, scaffolding and electrical installation requirements.

Engineering scope and design basis

Workstream covering controls, automation, and OT network transformation across its named projects, with project-level engineering scope, capital values and operating context.

Improved OT isolation, latency and convergence within the implemented phased scope. Designed redundant star topology using distribution switches and managed access switches switches with dual SFP failover, specified and installed 13 UPS units, and coordinated the 10 Gbps east-west backbone. Aligned field-switch locations with future bottling and palletizing layouts; further commissioning remained for the later phase.
