The Operating Context

Operating Context

The filtration project examined how separation performance, filter-aid use and cleaning requirements influenced the operating system. Equipment selection needed to reflect serviceability and production requirements as well as consumables.

Evaluated diatomaceous-earth and fiber filter-aid use, developed supplier and execution alternatives, and translated performance goals into a defined scope. The analysis connected filtration choices with repeatable operating practices and a clear basis for procurement decisions.

The Work & Its Outcomes

Work and Outcomes

Engineering Approach

  • Evaluated DE and fiber filter-aid operating cost.
  • Developed vendor and execution alternatives.
  • Aligned performance goals with a practical project scope.

Results, Targets & Design Context

  • Set an annual filter-aid cost goal and not-to-exceed threshold.
  • These are cost targets, rather than realized savings.

Process Filtration and Clarification

Separation work connected centrifuges, ceramic filtration, ion-exchange testing, sanitary flow paths and CIP. Evaluated capacity, product quality, cleaning, consumables and recovery, then coordinated utilities, controls, supplier interfaces and operator requirements. The system perspective linked separation performance with downstream production and wastewater effects.
