- Sanitary and aseptic: Wastewater review (January 2023)
On January 30, 2023, told Project stakeholder and Project stakeholder, with Gerry Insolia copied, that FCD had reported a failure and Nick had shut CIP believing it was the cause, but said the cause was unclear. Stated contract requirements of 10,000 to 15,000 gallons per day, pH above 3, and sodium below 160 ppm, compared with then-current 30,000 to 40,000 gallons per day, pH 2 to 3, and sodium 189 ppm.
- Sanitary and aseptic: Wastewater response (January 2023)
Reported capturing a full CIP-waste tank and taking a sample, temporarily using double dilution for one week after storage ran out, and planning laboratory tests of ceramic CIP and plant-effluent samples through FCD.
- Sanitary and aseptic: Sodium decision (May 2024)
In the May 7, 2024 thread, Art Trevino stated that the process had switched from KOH to NaOH and requested a go or no-go decision. Stated that KOH was not working, described sodium use or shutdown as the alternatives, said Ceramic 1 was past the point of return and Ceramic 2 produced the same score after KOH as after a hot rinse, and directed capture of the caustic flush and rinse while coordinating with filtration supplier and Project stakeholder.
- Sanitary and aseptic: Capture question (May 2024)
Michelle Gott asked whether sodium could be captured rather than discharged.
- Sanitary and aseptic: NaOH routing to V11
The photo procedure begins with an air pump stored by V1 and directs connection to plant air and process hoses. Step 1 connects the ceramic wastewater hose to the air-pump inlet. Step 2 connects the air-pump outlet to the bottom manifold port by V1.
- Sanitary and aseptic: NaOH routing to V11
Step 3 connects the manifold between V4 and V6 to the transfer line by V5 and opens both associated valves. Step 4 connects the transfer hose at the image label 'North chiller manufacturer 140 Chiller' and opens that valve. Step 5 connects the transfer line by V34 to the line by V35 and opens both valves.
