Why the Work Mattered

Purpose and Operating Need

Evaluated centrifuge and CIP interfaces to reduce cleaning labor and DE/bentonite dependency; future hard-piped transfer loops remained integration scope.

Engineering Approach

Engineering Approach

Engineering scope: CIP Automation, Centrifuge Systems.

Outcome & Engineering Context

Outcome and Context

Evaluated centrifuge and CIP interfaces to reduce cleaning labor and DE/bentonite dependency within the documented project scope. Supplier trials recorded 95% solids removal at 40 GPM and 83% at 50 GPM. These are trial observations. Brew 250 testing recorded approximately 36–40 NTU after nozzle correction against a 20–30 NTU target; AFE approval and purchase-order release were separately authorized. Transfer-loop design and installation planning remain distinct from installed or observed centrifuge work.

Roles & contributions
  • Project Ownership

    Full lifecycle project ownership

Owned the full project lifecycle: capital planning and prioritization, need definition, feasibility and scope development, engineering and AFE justification, procurement and vendor coordination, construction sequencing and field oversight, commissioning, turnover, and post-startup support. Connected operating requirements with technical scope, funding decisions, execution readiness, and the needs of operations and maintenance.

  • Vendor and OEM Team

    Supplier Participation

    Vendor Contribution

Centrifuge supplier and centrifuge supplier supplied centrifuge trial and equipment evidence used in the integration decision; future PLC/HMI transfer integration required separate support.

  • Automation alternatives

The transfer-loop alternatives distinguish local pump, flowmeter and batch-controller operation without PLC/HMI integration or interlocks from a full integration option using PLC, Stratix switches, HMI, tank-level sensing, VFD and automatic valves. The full option requires controls integration and commissioning support.

Project ownership and delivery context

Owned the full project lifecycle: capital planning and prioritization, need definition, feasibility and scope development, engineering and AFE justification, procurement and vendor coordination, construction sequencing and field oversight, commissioning, turnover, and post-startup support. Connected operating requirements with technical scope, funding decisions, execution readiness, and the needs of operations and maintenance.

Compared supplier documentation, automation, serviceability and performance, then translated evaluation findings into specifications and procurement planning. Flow measurement, batch control and hard-piped transfer arrangements connected separation performance with repeatable production and cleaning practices.
