Why the Work Mattered

Purpose and Operating Need

The bottling expansion depended on a clean electrical design as much as equipment selection; VFDs, disconnects, photoeyes, E-stops, OEM machines, and conveyor logic had to be powered, protected, and coordinated correctly.

Engineering Approach

Engineering Approach

Designed and reviewed electrical load plans from a new 1000A 480V subpanel, sized disconnects, VFD panels, and power distribution for conveyor drives and OEM machines; specified PowerFlex 525 VFDs, compact PLC 5380 PLCs, operator display Plus 7 HMIs, monitored safety relays, GracePorts, unmanaged switches, dual-voltage 460/120/24VDC transformers and power supplies, UL508A panel builds, E-stop logic, Category 3 and Category 0 stops, OSHA / CEMA /PLd considerations, conduit sizing, 12 AWG THHN motor conductors, 16 AWG control wiring, and three-motor homerun grouping.

Project ownership and delivery context

Owned the full project lifecycle: capital planning and prioritization, need definition, feasibility and scope development, engineering and AFE justification, procurement and vendor coordination, construction sequencing and field oversight, commissioning, turnover, and post-startup support. Connected operating requirements with technical scope, funding decisions, execution readiness, and the needs of operations and maintenance.

Developed the line scope around equipment, pasteurization, utility and electrical interfaces. Used takt, FIFO, OEE and labor modeling to connect equipment choices with production demand, while construction sequencing, safety circuits and startup planning tied the design to live-plant execution.
